Adding blogs feature for Smorty

Posted on Saturday, April 21st 2007 2:51 am by menj in Paid Blogging

According to the Smorty page, you should be able to add multiple blogs to your account. So I looked for that feature but it was not there. I emailed the Smorty team and they replied with the following (very fast too…after two hours):

Hi Menj,

We are currently working on this feature. It should be available within a week or two.

Regards
Smorty Team

I look forward to the feature. I sense that they have great potential compared to their rivals out there.

Toast The Trends

Posted on by menj in General

Toast The Trends is an online webzine which discusses various topics ranging from fashion, electronics, entertainment to home decor. The collection of articles for these topics are constantly updated and I enjoyed reading them. Their target audience would be a general one as this range of topics would interest teens, students, professionals and even housewives. They are currently having a promotion whereby one stands a chance to win an iPod if they download the toolbar which is available at the website. Go there and check it out!

Smorty, new paid blogging network

smorty Smorty, new paid blogging network

I just found out about Smorty last night and registered with them for my main blog. Basically its not much different from the other paid blogging networks out there, but a major difference I found is that you can only take one opportunity at a time.

From what I saw, they only had a few review offers and not as many as, for example, Sponsored Reviews or Blogitive. I managed to do one, another job is still in pending and I have not done it yet (planning to work on that tonight). Since I only did one offer, I am not sure how prompt is their payment. However, they claim to pay via PayPal on a weekly basis. Yes, that’s right, you don’t have any choice other than to use PayPal.

They look promising so I will certainly try them out for at least a week before deciding whether to stick to them or otherwise. In any case, they make a good complement to all the other paid to blog networks I am already a part of.

Flaming money-making blogs

Posted on by menj in General

Earl-ku of kukujiao.com started a blog post called Top 4 Lamest Money-Making Blogs (can I ask why are they only four?). Fortunately I guess this blog is not “lame” enough for him to be listed in the blog post and I guess I should thank my lucky stars for that.

Anyway, while I think its perfectly within his rights to state his opinion about money-making blogs, I don’t think some of his comments about those blogs listed are really fair. I’ve taken a look at them and I don’t think they are that bad. At least the bloggers themselves are honest about how much they earn. By the way, I started this “money-making blog” not to flaunt or brag about how much I earn, but to show others that it is possible to earn as much as a conventional paid salary from blogging and internet marketing activities alone. And I expect the “money-making blogs” list to grow as more people become aware of how they can earn from the internet so this rather new blog niche is here to stay, whether anyone likes it or not.

Maintain your blog audience

Posted on by menj in Blogging

Here is an interesting article which tells you in no uncertain terms how to maintain your blog audience, and its from the Sponsored Reviews blog, no less. You can read this interestingly elaborative blog post written by Jarrod Hunt at 27+1 Tips for Building and Maintaining a Blog Audience. There were several suggestions were made in order to not only gain but also ensure that you have a consistent number of blog visitors. Things like making sure that SEO principles are applied to your blog template, getting the right blogging platform (I would recommend WordPress) and staying on course and blog regularly with proper grammar and little spelling mistakes are some things which may already be familiar to some. I do, however, notice that the Sponsored Reviews URL relies on the default WordPress link, so I would like to suggest to them to ensure that they should check out the readable permalinks in order for search engines like Google to spider the blog quickly and efficiently.

Who’s afraid of the Big, Bad Google?

Posted on Thursday, April 19th 2007 11:15 pm by menj in Internet

By now everyone in the SEO and internet marketing/paid blogging world would know of Matt Cutts’ post regarding how to report paid links to Google. To be honest I think is a really dumb idea anyway. I wonder how are you going to tell which links are paid and which are not?

Every day thousands of webmasters and web directory owners deal with link buying and selling via Digital Point, V7N and various other webmaster forums for SEO and backlinks purposes. I should know, because I am among those who sell links…usually for $10 – $20 per link per year.

My PPP account turned me into an Advertiser!

Posted on by menj in Paid Blogging

Now this is one really weird bug and I’ve lodged a complaint here. I logged in as usual into my PayPerPost account with my Blogger id (username: menj1980) and strangely enough, the PayPerPost system identified me as an Advertiser and I was taken to the Advertiser interface instead! Even weirder still, I got USD100 credited into my account for making Opps.

ROTFL.

Of course the drawback is that now I can’t even go to the Marketplace and take any of the Opps meant for Bloggers because the system thinks that I am an Advertiser. Actually I am really tempted to use that USD100 in the Advertiser account but I already have an Advertiser account (with a different username). And what happened to all the posts that I’d taken for PPP? I really hope someone at PayPerPost can restore menj1980 back and hopefully none of the Opps that I’ve taken were lost in the process.
