First Nuffnang cheque arrives

Posted on by menj in Blog Ads, Internet Income

Last night after coming back from watching Die Hard 4.0 (a truly geeky/action-explosive experience!), I was groping around the mailbox as usual and I found an envelope addressed to myself. At first I thought it was my debit card statement, but it was in a plain white envelope with no other markings. It couldn’t be my Google Adsense cheque either, I thought to myself, because I had received that two days earlier. So I ripped the envelope open and this was what I found inside….

Woohoo…my first Nuffnang cheque, after four months! Considering that this is the first cheque, it is not bad really.

LinkWorth might be Worth it

Posted on Tuesday, July 17th 2007 3:56 pm by menj in Blogging, Internet Income

I am trying out this blog advertising service called Linkworth. Frankly I do not like their interface as it is cramped with too many details and cumbersome to use. But the main strength of Linkworth is the different types of services that they provide. You have LinkPost (which is essentially paid blogging), LinkInText (inline text advertising similar to Kontera) and you have the traditional text link ads and banner advertising similar to TLA. I signed up for LinkPost and I received two job offers worth USD20 each from them. Wow, that’s a mind-blower.

A new source of income for me, remains to be seen as to how they will pay me, though. How about you, have you tried LinkWorth yet?

Credit card processing

Posted on Monday, July 16th 2007 2:20 pm by menj in General, Payment Gateway

Credit card is a common method of payment in this current era of globalisation. Every merchant who does retail business, especially online, would certainly accept credit card payment due to the fact that its usage is easy and without any hassle. Bringing too much cash around is not safe for either the merchant or the consumer as it will encourage theft and a high risk of burglary. Hence companies which do their business online would certainly require a professional service for their online credit card processing needs. This is in order to enable their customers to make their purchases for their products or services.

However, it is certainly not easy to find a company which can provide professional and reliable credit card processing services to ensure that there is no interruption and disruption of service. Downtime of credit card processing will eventually cause the business to lose customers due to customer dissatisfaction with the online credit card processing. There are a lot of credit card processing companies out there in the market, hence it has become very difficult to find a good one because all these companies will claim the same thing. So which company should you go to?

A tale of Ichiban Ramen

Posted on Friday, July 13th 2007 4:37 pm by menj in General

Last week Malcolm and I went to Ichiban Ramen at Jusco Cheras Selatan to have our dinner. It was a spur of the moment thing, by the way. So I ordered the ramen (don’t remember the name) and this arrived at the table.

Turns out to be a cold dish-type of ramen. Ah, my mistake…I thought it was supposed to be the steaming hot kind. Looks delicious anyway but there was one small problem. I had to use chopsticks. Chopsticks! Haven’t used them in years.

But I was so hungry that I didn’t care anymore. And this was the aftermath.

No more sponsored themes? What BS!

Posted on Thursday, July 12th 2007 10:31 pm by menj in WordPress

So the maestro of WP decided to clamp down on sponsored themes? I think someone is having delusions of grandeur here, thinking that they can act like the Big G and paid links. Well, I have invested time and money into sponsored WordPress themes (which you can see here) and I am certain that the sponsored themes industry is not going to go away. Some people might be jumping for joy when they hear this news but these people certainly do not not care squat that WP theme designers and coders need to eat and make a living in order to contribute to the community. I am into investing sponsored themes as well not just for the backlinks and money, but also to contribute to the community. What’s wrong with making a honest living off the free themes?

Anyway, I shouldn’t be too worried. There are many WordPress theme galleries that will allow sponsored themes into their database. So the industry is not quite dead yet, no matter how much some would wish that it will.
