Has Google PageRank ended?

Here is an interesting article which speculates that due to the lateness of this impending Google PageRank update, it is possible that Google might totally do away with it altogether. I am skeptical that this is likely the case, but I do agree that Google PageRank will be devalued somewhat by Google in order for websites to rank highly in SERPs. Google will certainly not remove that little green bar at the top which has benefited them for years, however.

Webmasters should now focus on getting traffic and doing advertising based on that, rather than relying too much on Google in order to enhance their websites authority.

I don’t think Google will reduce the weight of Pagerank when determining the listing of websites in search engines since I believe Pagerank is and will be the reason why Yahoo and Microsoft’s Live/MSN are left far behind Google. Nonetheless, Google will discount the Pagerank value passed through sponsored links so that their secret PR formula works fine.
