My home access is back up again

Posted on Thursday, April 5th 2007 4:55 pm by menj in ISP

Its back up again after yesterday’s problem surfaced. I just checked about ten minutes ago and the DSL light is no longer off. Phew, I was wondering when they would actually fix the internet line. They must have done it without me realizing it.

Finally I can blog again with a clear conscience. In the meantime, I am going to go into Guild Wars. There are some missions which I need to complete.

My PS3 died (original 60GB model). I had upgraded the drive to a 320GB, so I swapped it back out for the 60GB that came with it when I sent the system to Sony for repair. When the replacement system came I put my 320GB drive in it and learned that any hard disk that has been formatted for one PS3 system cannot be used on another PS3 system until it is reformatted!

Of course they recommended that I back up the drive before sending the PS3 back to them but A) There wasn’t anything wrong with the drive B) I didn’t send them the drive I was using and C) The PS3 WAS BROKEN so I couldn’t run the backup utility!

Sony didn’t warn me that this would happen, otherwise I’d have tried to fix the thing myself, at least so I could get it working enough to run the PS3 backup utility. As it is, my son is going to come home from school and learn that all of the Little Big Planet stages he and I made together, all of the videos he made with the PlayStation Eye, and all of our save games are trapped in this little HD and we can never access them again.

All I need is some piece of software for a PC or Mac that can read this PS3 hard disk drive and make a backup of the data that I can put on an external hard disk and restore to my PS3. Does any such utility exist?

      Wifi problem?
My guess is that you didn’t do a reset or didn’t do it properly. On older routers they usually have a reset button, you`d have to use a toothpick or a paperclip to press and hold for 30 seconds or so.
You can also try connectiing the network cable directly to the router and to your computer then log in to the router and perhaps change the settings manually.
Open the command prompt (STart –> Run then type in CMD and hit Enter)
      type the following

      ipconfig /all

      then look for Default Gateway.
If D.G. is 192.168.1.1 then open the browser and type it in and then hit enter, that should take you to the router page where you can verify and/or change the settings. I would start here…

I have a wireless router in my home. I named it and assigned it a password when I set it up. When I try to connect to it with any device (iPod, laptop) it has always asked for the network password and that has always worked. It NEVER asked for a PIN number in order to access the internet.
My cousin visited this weekend. When my cousin tried to connect with her vista laptop (Sony Vaio), it didn’t ask for the password, but instead it asked for the PIN. She connected and everything seemed ok…until I tried to connect with my own devices. My wifi network had now been replaced with a network named after her laptop.

To fix, she disconnected from the wifi, plugged out the wires and put them back again, we reset the router, and STILL only her connection is there. And I can’t access it with the old password or even with the router’s PIN number, our routers name has just vanished!!

What can I do? Should I try re-installing the CD it came with? Please help! Thnx in advance 🙂
it’s a Linksys by Cisco, Wireless-N Home Router model no. WRT120N I hope this helps and the box is missing along with everything that came with it so if it needs to be re-installed could u plz include a link from a safe website thnx in advance! 🙂
I have tried everything from restarting it to this thing right here..
I did this but it asked for a username and password, I tried everything possible from our original router name and its password, the new name with the router PIN, to my laptop username and password but NOTHING is working! Also, today my brother opened up this network magic which is installed with the router set-up in the beginning I never bothered to check it out and didn’t really care when the free trial ended but today I noticed that it said for protection not available and that I have to purchase the full version (asks for a key) so I don’t get it without this program my wifi isn’t protected from hacking? What’s the point of the password then? This isn’t making any sense at all! I have no idea what to do and its driving everyone in my house crazy because no one can access the wifi so please help! What do I do I need to restore everything back to the way it was with the original router name and password and figure out what’s the deal with this network magic, please help I’m good with computers but not THAT good. THNX IN ADVANCE! 🙂

Our landlord about a month ago, agreed in email to extend our lease until the 25th of July. He said he was sending an extension in the mail. After three weeks of no such mail, we asked last Monday when to expect it. He replied that due to our buying a home, no further discussion was necessary about an extension and expected us out by July tenth, the original lease termination date. He also included he would be in our home Friday July 1st to do an inspection, if he would not be here the first, he would let us know and come the 2nd. After numerous emails, phone calls and text messages attempting to contact him that no one would be home, we ended up having my husband come home on a graveyard shift to be here assuming the landlord would be here in the afternoon- he never showed. We called again, no answer and no reply.

He finally got back to us July 2nd at two, to tell us he would not be here and to expect a friend of his to do the inspection. He also gave out the garage door code to his friend to just come into the house if need be. If I was not ok, I should contact him immediately. I called him several times and emailed him asking him to call me, he did not return my calls or mail, and his friend showed up. Is this legal? In our lease, he does not specify who his agent is, nor did he provide me any contact info for this friend of his. He still refuses to return any calls. What can we do?
****In response to what I am worried about- Is giving the garage door code to someone he has never designated as an “agent” before this okay? I checked with WA state landlord-tenant, what I found is that he should have this person specifically named in our lease, which he is not. But that aside too, now I have to worry about some stranger entering the house at any time now? And this person can do the final walk through to get our deposit back as well? It seems fishy to me, as this is not this person’s home, and I do not want to get screwed anymore than I feel we have been.

My iPhone is sync’d with my home desktop computer, but I am away from home for 3 weeks.

I did not reconfigure the iPhone to sync with my G4 Powerbook that is also traveling with me.

I didn’t have time to move the iTunes library to my laptop, but I figured that I really didn’t need to sync my iPhone with the laptop while I was traveling out of the country, BUT… my iPhone froze on me. Fortunately, it rebooted after a hard shutdown. Now I’m worried that it might freeze on me again and need to be restored, but I can’t do that while I’m on the road, because my iPhone isn’t sync’d with my laptop.

      THE QUESTION:
How do I back up my iPhone to my G4 laptop running OS X 10.4.6, so that I can do a restore if necessary? I am currently traveling in China, which may cause some additional problems, as far as accessing software websites to download.

I don’t have access to my home mac, so the fixes where I need to access the file with the code in it won’t work for me. Any other suggestions?

I currently live about 20min from the house I grew up in the next town over that’s a good amount bigger. I moved to be right next to the jr college ive been going to because i didn’t have a car and it just seemed right at the time. The last year has been amazing I met a whole new group of people, socialized a lot more and really developed as a person, not to mention fell in love with an amazing man, none of this would have happened if I hadn’t moved. Even though its not too far away from home it was very different from the small town life I had before. Now everything is different, my boyfriend moved to the city two hours away, my social group dissipated (people moved and changed), i’m unemployed, two of my roommates moved out, my rent went up, my current roommate and once best friend works in the city 3 nights a week and sleeps all day then has a very different school then I do which is only two days a week when last year it was five. Basically EVERYTHING has changed, but I still live in the same place. This summer I went though some serious emotional issues while adjusting to my long distance relationship and going home was very comforting to me and now as things continue to level out Im finding that I am still spending a good amount of time at home when last year I never did. I want to make living where I do now work and I need to be more social again but it just doesn’t feel good being in the environment I loved a year ago, im planning to move to the city in about 8 months to go to school and be in a place I want to be and I think that that’s part of why getting back to life as it was a year ago and building on it feels impossible. When im in my apartment alone it feels really shitty… I could go on but basically Im wondering if I should continue paying rent and put a lot of effort into living in a town and socializing with people in a town that i will be leaving in 8 months or if I should move home live for free and disconnect with whatever I have left close to school? I don’t want to be a hermit and Im getting a car so I can drive to do things if i want to but Im in the city a lot on the weekends so im not that involved always. Im really torn between moving home and feeling safe and saving money for the next 8 months but maybe regretting it or staying by the college and feeling shitty in my apartment but having access to more people and things to do???

I’m helping my cousin with his XP problem (he’s in the USA, I’m in Glasgow, so I’m doing this over Skype). Anyway, he had a problem with a XP Pro installation and didn’t want to lose his files, so he installed XP Home along side it so that when the PC starts up he can pick between Pro or Home. The idea was that he’d go into home access his files, back them up and then reformat the HD. He says that the installation went smoothly but when he tries to log into XP Home he gets the following error message: “The system can’t log you on due to the following error: The specified domain doesn’t exist or can’t be contacted. Please try again or consult your system administrator.” All the times that I’ve installed Windows, I’ve never seen such an error- what did he do, did he somehow skip the part that creates an administrator password and assign himself as a non-admin user? Any advice on how to get around this? Thanks.

Okay here’s the deal. Last week I received the pop-up for a winxp updates that I’ve been putting off for about a month. I finally installed them then rebooted. After reboot, windows wouldn’t load back up. I have had zero success getting this to boot up in any way even safe mode, so eliminate that possibility as an option. I went out and bought a USB to IDE cable and hooked my SATA HD to my laptop and am able to bring up the drive. What I am needing to do though is where I run into my problem. I had my user profile (Mike) on there with alot of pics from my photography. I need to get these copied over to my laptop. At first I could not even gain access to the User Profile (Mike) to see the sub folders. I have enabled sharing on that user profile allowing me to get access to see the sub folders but cannot get any further in to actually accessing the files within the sub folders. Again, this IDE drive is hooked up to my laptop via USB to SATA and windows doesn’t boot up on it.

      As the topic speaks,

I’m currently using an iPhone 3G (warranty was over way long time ago). 2 days back, the home button went completely dead. I opened up the phone and found one of the two lead contacts broke off.

I considered getting the button replace, but thought that the problem will soon come back again, and it would be a crazy waste of money to do another replacement. I’m probably gonna wait up till the iPhone 5 or white iPhone 4 is released.

I figured out the best alternative (after reading loads on the internet) is to jailbreak the iPhone 3G 4.2 and install iHome (an app that gives you access to the home screen with a swipe of the finger). I decided to go with it.

Now, I am face with a big headache. Without the home button functioning, I am unable to go into DFU mode, thus I can’t start a jailbreak. I tried using jailbreakme.com (probably the only one that doesn’t require you to go into DFU), but the supported firmware is only up to 4.01.

Any tips or advice on how can I jailbreak my phone???

I have a HP desktop with Windows Vista Home Premium. I have a Hi Speed internet connection with/thru AT&T U-verse. The internet connection is through the phone line.
I just bought from a friend a two year old Dell Inspiron laptop loaded with XP software. Can I just unplug the phone line at the back of the HP computer and plug it into the Dell and have an acceptable functioning connection? Do I need to change anything on the Dell or add some type of software. I want to be able to use both computers. I will use the Dell as a backup.

I have a desktop computer and a laptop. I’m on my desktop as of right now, but my laptop has installed about a million things on its own. And this same thing is popping up over and over again. “Win 7 Home Security 2012” and it’s saying that my computer is infected, and it’s blocked something from accessing the internet. It says it’s been created by the microsoft corp. and it has all the microsoft symbols, everything. It’s very realistic. It’s popping up a few times a minute, and it is obviously a virus, because it’s trying to tell me that my Norton’s infected ? lmfao. Is that even possible. I haven’t clicked on it, i’ve clicked the X on the box every time it pops up, but it’s still popping up. & now when i click the X it just pops right back up. I’ve deleted everything on my computer that has been added on in the past couple days, but there’s one thing that I’ve tried to uninstall and it wouldn’t uninstall until i clicked on the thing saying to continue unprotected. Registry Booster 2012..? I did not install this, infact. I haven’t installed anything lately. What do I do now? Is my computer crashing ? WTF. i’m so scared! I just bought this computer! It’s popping up rapidly. & won’t let me open anything else. What do I DO? Someone tell me what to do or something!

I want to spend up to 2000 dollars on an on line internet business. I know how to do things like set up a WordPress site and buying domain names, I’m willing to work hard, and I’m not expecting to earn too much money – just a regular income of 1000 dollars a month would suffice. All I need is an idea from someone who knows what he/she is talking about.

      Thanks

Please advise what regulation specifies depth? this is regarding a dispute over who pays for cutting cable internet line in back yard, my argument is it was not burried deep enough. Thanks for any input.
