Coming soon

Posted on Saturday, August 18th 2007 2:23 pm by menj in General, Internet Income

I will be out of town for two days (specifically: going to Muar and Pontian), so this blog will not be updated during that duration. In the meantime, here’s something which I set up only today.

VCTech Network

Let me know if you like it. Yeah, that will also teach those who have labelled me “an unemployed problogger” (a very ludicrous oxymoron if I haven’t seen one before already) a thing or two. Who dare says that I am “unemployed” now?

Google revokes PR update

Posted on by menj in Internet

Yes, really….

If you landed here, then it means you are pretty gullible. If you rely on PR updates as your end-all, save-all to defining a site’s worth on the net, you are more than gullible. You are simply beyond help.

Relax, the damn updates will be over at some point.

VCTech Network

vctech bus VCTech Network

I have registered the company VCTech Network which is an online company consolidating all my online projects under one label. Tonight I will be purchasing the official domain URL for the company and develop a portfolio website for the company in order to give it more credibility. I asked for some logo design submissions in Digital Point, and the creative members have come up with interesting designs. Some are made for fun and are really wacky, like the bus above with the company name on its side.

Anyway this is just the beginning.

Shopping cart software

Posted on Monday, August 13th 2007 11:03 am by menj in Internet

If you are setting up an online store but do not want to spend too much for hosting solutions and online software, there may be a solution for you that fits the bill. Ashop Commerce is a web-based, self-hosted shopping cart software and hence no installation is required to use it. This is a distinct advantage that this software has over the various e-commerce softwares that there are released out there.

The various features in Ashop Commerce are seamless and award-winning, recognised by everyone in the industry. Security is of course an important feature for any e-commerce software and Ashop Commerce is no exception to the rule. With their 128-bit SSL checkout security and full fraud alerts, a merchant can be rest assured that their transactions will be safe and secure. Their customers are also able to be easily persuaded to use the features of Ashop Commerce. With all the features that can be found in Ashop Commerce, why not try it out?

Last batch of “Review My Blog” contest

Posted on by menj in Contests

Well I did what I can with my limited time to announce the last leg of the “Review My Blog” contest where the best review wins RM1,000 and the runner-ups get a linkback from this blog. I received two late entries two days ago but did not have the time to link to them until today.

Anyway, here they are:

I thank the last two reviewers for participating in my blog contest. For the reviews of the previous batches, refer to Batch 1 and Batch 2. In total, I have about 12 reviews to choose the winner from. Actually I was expecting a bit more but like I said earlier, I never did got around to promoting the contest properly.

Anyway, the contest is now officially closed. I will announce the winner very soon.

Registering my company

vctech logo Registering my company

I’ve decided that I am going to merge all my online ventures into a single company. So I am going to the ROB on Monday to register my new company. Shouldn’t cost me too much, since it is only a company on paper. But after I have registered the company name, I will buy a new domain where I will display all my online ventures in a portfolio. Perhaps this whole thing is unnecessary, but since I deal with online clients all the time it would be good to show some measure of credibility, instead of the client seeing you as some random faceless stranger. I even have the company logo (see above). Actually the company name (founded in 1996) in the logo once belonged to my dad, but has now since become bungkus because of the Asian financial crisis of 1998 (and I blame Rafisuah Aziz for causing my father to go bankrupt).

Long story behind it.
