Its back up again after yesterday’s problem surfaced. I just checked about ten minutes ago and the DSL light is no longer off. Phew, I was wondering when they would actually fix the internet line. They must have done it without me realizing it.
Finally I can blog again with a clear conscience. In the meantime, I am going to go into Guild Wars. There are some missions which I need to complete.

Now I’m back in a cybercafe just like I was a week ago because the DSL light in my modem is once again off. There was a lightning storm yesterday so it was no surprise that it actually happened. I’ve tested with two different DSL modems and both provided the same result. The conclusion from there is from hence on rather obvious.
I’ve already filed a report at the Streamyx Support Center but learning from my experience the last time around, I am going to go to TMPoint Kajang to follow up on the issue. I find that action much more effective in restoring my connection rather than lying around in wait for their technician to give me a call.
This is deja vu all over again.

The lousy and expensive previous hosting provider finally came through and is issuing me a refund. I am now officially richer by RM657.00
Hello Menj,
Thank you for your confirmation and details.
Please note that I have successfully terminated your hosting account from our server. The following is the calculation for refund.
Linux Semi Dedicated Server (11/01/2007 – 11/07/2007): RM1,314.00 (Paid)
Hosted for 3 months (11/01/2007 – 11/04/2007): RM657.00
Balance 3 months not hosted (11/04/2007 – 11/07/2007): RM657.00
Please let us know the name payable and address so that we could issue a cheque and post to you.
Of course I will be plonking all that money into DataKL Hosting but who cares? Let me gloat while it lasts.

I managed to fax the earlier list of documents requested by PayPal, courtesy of a little bird who happens to be the CEO as well. Anyway, PayPal confirmed acceptance of the documents after the fax was sent but a few hours later they sent the following message to me.
Dear Mohd Elfie Nieshaem Juferi,
We’re sorry, but your account access limitation cannot be lifted at this
time. We need more information about your account before we can restore
full access to your account. Please complete the steps below so that we may
review your account further
They want my bank statement and proof of service for the disputed transactions they listed. Somehow I managed to collect them together and print them out. Now all I need to do is to get it faxed. Again. This is getting really tiresome. I understand why they had to do it the first time around but why do they have to ask for other privy information as well? I really do not see the point. Is it not enough that they already have copies of my IC, driver’s licence and utility bills?
Sheesh.

Our seven-year tryst with our previous host for a very major site of mine (my baby) has now officially ended. When I sent that formal request for cancellation, it felt as though a large burden has lifted from my shoulders. I feel relieved!
Hello,

After all, I had been hosted with them for seven years before I sent out that support ticket telling them that I would like to cancel our semi-dedicated hosting package [hidden message: here is my middle finger for your lousy, expensive package, you MFs]. Here is the reply that I got from them, along with some commentary from yours truly.
Hello Menj,
I’m sorry to hear that you are leaving us.
MENJ: No, I don’t think you are. Otherwise you would have treated me with a little more respect, since I was hosted with you for seven bloody years!
We may credit back the balance months not hosted into your billing account.
MENJ: That is what I want to hear.
We really appreciate your business and hope to keep your account with us. Please reconsider our service and continue hosting with us. Other than great features at the most affordable price, we also offer outstanding service. We have 24 x 7 Technical Support. Our Support Personnel?s work 3 shifts per day including Weekends and Public Holidays which most of the competitors are not able to do so.
MENJ: Yada, yada, yada….
