PayPal called me

Posted on Thursday, November 29th 2007 12:19 pm by menj in Internet, Payment Gateway

This was the last thing I expected but a representative from PayPal called me, “for security reasons” she said. What, she thinks that I am a terrorist?

Anyway, although at first she addressed me as “Mr Juferi” (hello, that’s my father lah, not me), she was on the whole very nice to deal with. She asked me about whether I did some transactions (I said yes, I did) and I gave her the websites that uses PayPal for business transactions. Apparently she was satisfied with the answers I gave and so she thanked me and hung up. Not a bad service, but I wondered why is it only now they are making calls to me? Why was it that when my PayPal account was limited a few months back, they never even bothered contacting me, let alone drop a personal e-mail notice?

That’s great that PayPal worked with you so well. I’ve heard good things about them, and I’ve heard bad. I’ve always been happy with their service and I know they work hard to ensure everyone’s security. They have a great reputation to keep. :)

Yes, This is a random check, the same happened to me, they called me to ask about transactions if i did them, this is a good thing, by using this method they can prevent some stealing.

Its quite normal to be called by Paypal, as an extra precaution, don’t give away any details though.

I’ve had all my credit cards, all different types and from different banks, rejected by PayPal. Friends have told me they’ve had the same thing happen to them. I called PayPal, they were no help at all and wouldn’t tell me anything about their verification process so I’m left not knowing why I can’t add a card.

      Any ideas?

I was sent money on paypal (as a gift) and the sender marked it as an unauthorized transaction. Will paypal investigate that the IP addresses didn’t change and it was in fact an authorized transaction? Or am I screwed out of the money?

Hi. A few months ago, I paid about $330 for a phone from fastcardtech.com. After it said “payment not received” 2 weeks later, I told paypal that I needed a refund. Paypal gave them 2 weeks to reply, and when they didn’t, they said they’d refund my money. Suddenly, I was told that Paypal successfully refunded $0 to me. They said the seller had no money in his account, and that it’s against privacy laws to pull money out of his bank account. I contacted fastcardtech, and they told me paypal never allowed the funds to clear. So, seeing that neither paypal nor fastcardtech were going to pay me back, I did a chargeback. Everything was ok. Now, two months later, I got a collections call from NCO (a paypal company). What are my legal options. I don’t want my credit rating to be ruined due to Paypal lying about their “no fraud” promise (apparently, they told me that by that they mean I’m only protected *if* the frauder has money in their accounts). What ticks me off is that even after paypal admitted that I was frauded, they are going after me with collections instead of the “seller.” If there are any people familiar with legal stuff or work/worked for paypal, I’d appreciate this. I understand they won’t sue me since they don’t have a case, but I don’t want this being on my credit report for 7 years, and I don’t want a ruined credit rating. Thanks!

It has been 9 days and I have two echecks that haven’t cleared. The funds are available so there’s no problem there. I called paypal customer service twice and both times they told me it would be a few days, they were experiencing technical difficulties, but talking to others it seems that this is just how long it takes.

Just a few minutes ago I logged in to check the status to see if maybe they had finally cleared, but the uncleared transactions had disappeared completely while my other transactions were still there, why is that?

Anyone else have problems like this?

Both my buyer and I are very frustrated with this. She sent the money and paypal is holding it. We have already called paypal asking for help and we get nothing. What else is there to do?
But there is nothing to ship. It’s a service. Paypal had told me the money was being held because it wasn’t sure the buyer was the actual buyer. Now the buyers account has returned to normal, and I still don’t have my money. Paypal hasn’t listened to us what so ever when we called.

My husband sold something on ebay. The buyer requested a refund, however nothing was wrong with the item what so ever. To make a long story short, the buyer filed a claim and Paypal placed a hold on my account for -360. I have no money in my Paypal at this time.

If Paypal favors with the buyer, will Paypal automatically withdraw the funds from my Checking Account without my permission?

I had a paypal account for a lil under 3 years and I’ve only used it once for someone to transfer money to me and then after I got that I transferd it to my bank. After that I never used it again. So today I needed to log on and check something and I noticed my account is locked.

So I call PayPal and they said that I’m -74 dollars. And I have no idea how that happened, and gived me a special phone number to call.

What do you think will happen? Am I going to have to pay that 74 dollars? Am I going to get in trouble? Just need information on this so I’m not so new to this.

      Thanks!

I have found that when calling Paypal regarding my Master Card, they have said on two occasions that the interest rate is “Non Negotiable.” I told them that this time, I am transferring my balance and closing that account. I would like some feedback on this decision and if there is another option to twist their arm.

I called paypal they said they can’t cancel it. Will it just transfer whatever I have in my bank account or will it overdraft me? what should I do?

Here is the question, please don’t read more into it than I am asking, kindly.

If I pay a large payment via paypal(couple thousand), then how long does it take for the receiver to access it. Does Paypal have a definite end time that it WILL be there/available/accessible?

      Sincere input is appreciated. Thanks!

I sent in a support request to Paypal about adding a Vanilla Mastercard to my account. I failed to enter the EXPUSE number 3 times (go me -.-), and I sent a support ticket or something to them. The form had two boxes, “question” and “additional information”. I said in the ticket to contact me through e-mail, but I’m not sure if they will.

Anyways, I can’t be called during the day. Do they call your house after sending in one of these, or do they mail you, or what?

I have a paypal account and I would like to withdraw my balance in it without adding in my bank account. I tried requesting a check but it says i should add in a bank account or a confirmed address. I only use one credit card and i receive the bill through p.o. box and i do not plan on changing the billing address. I tried calling paypal but i can’t get through the operator. a machine asks for the phone number connected to my account and after i enter it the call gets cut off. I am beginning to hate paypal. They also asks for a confirmed address but i do not have a credit card that is addressed at home. only po boxes. Do you guys know what i could do to get my money from paypal?

I’ve just bought something on ebay that I can’t afford to pay for until tomorrow (when I get paid.) What I want to know is whether paypal takes longer than say 6-7 hours to take the money from your account. As if it does I can pay for it now without going overdrawn. Does anyone know how long paypal takes to make payments?

Paypal froze my account because they claimed that it seemed like there was fraud going on. I managed to get it unfrozen, but then a few weeks later, after I paid for something on Ebay, they froze it again. I am really frustrated because now I can only barely use Ebay, since most sellers say they only accept Paypal. Is it possible to somehow pay some other way with Ebay sellers?
