SEO spammers reaching my sites

Posted on Saturday, February 27th 2010 4:29 pm by menj in General, Internet

Lately, I have been getting these weird SEO spammers asking me to contact them if I wish to increase traffic to my site(s). These e-mails sure look fishy, here is one of them that I received today.

Website:
IP: 122.163.119.126

The e-mail came from seo.sales.traffic@gmail.com. Certainly does not seem to come from a reputable SEO company. So I did a search for this Gmail address and I found out that the problem was not new.

According to the site that I visited, several indicators that this e-mail is spam are:

  • The communication will normally come completely unsolicted via email or your website form
  • The sender usually uses free non-professional email address (e.g. @gmail.com)
  • They do not have their own website
  • No telephone number (or not a UK number)
  • No company name

I did one step further and made an IP lookup trace for the IP I got from that e-mail. Here was the result:

So do not reply to these types of e-mails. They want you to reply, because then they will add your e-mail to their harvest list and later spam you will all sorts of offers.

Why Google Adsense is essential for your blogs

google adsense logo Why Google Adsense is essential for your blogs

These days I have been neglecting my focus on optimising my Google Adsense position in my blogs, but I intend to rectify that soon as I come to the realisation that Adsense is essential for websites, especially those which contain a lot of content. The concept behind Adsense is relatively simple, as it involves inserting a Javascript code into a certain website or blog. Each time the page is accessed and shows a related link to a san francisco probate lawyer for example, the Javascript will pull advertisements from the Google Adsense program. The search engine is the one handling all the tracking and payments, providing an easy way for webmasters to display content-sensitive and targeted ads without having the hassle to solicit advertisers, collect funds, monitor the clicks and statistics which could be a time-consuming task in itself. It seems that there is never a shortage of advertisers in the program from which the search engine pulls the Google Adsense ads. Also webmasters are less concerned by the lack of information search engines are providing and are more focused in making cash from these search engines.

My bid directory is sold!

Posted on Tuesday, July 10th 2007 7:48 pm by menj in Directories

I am no longer the owner of Bid Your Links, the bid directory has been transferred to the new owner’s server this morning and the transaction is almost completed. All is left is for the $$$ to be transferred to me. I feel a little sad to let it go but considering that the sale is worth USD1.5K, I suppose it is well worth it.

Now I am starting on a new bid directory project and I have instructed my web designer-coder to design a template for Bid Your Web. The name of the directory was suggested by my darling, so I decided to take that name. If you want to submit your websites or blogs to the new bid directory, you can do so. I will spend at least USD300 on promoting this directory, it will be bigger and better than the last one.
