Text link ad, sold!

I don’t do very well with the TLA programme, usually I am able to only sell one slot on three different websites (out of the five websites that I am eligible for TLA), so the income is understandably very low compared to PayPerPost or even Google Adsense. But yesterday I received the following good news from TLA.

Mohd Elfie Nieshaem,

We are excited to notify you we have sold a text link ad off http://www.noorullah.org!

To monitor your earnings login here:

You will receive these “Ad Sold” emails each time an ad is sold off your website. If you wish to turn these emails off and monitor your progress on your own, please click here to suspend these emails.

Thanks again for your participation and please let us know if we can help in any way!

That is of course good news, alhamdulillah. So now I have 4 slots sold in total. Well, the sales are certainly picking up for me after being static for more than six months. Hopefully it will improve in the coming months.

    1. I’ve had nothing but problems with that site.

We’d cleaned out the spare room and decided to try and sell some of the items we found. I had more harassing e-mails than ever becuase if something was marked $65 they would flip because I wouldn’t take $35. I had quite a few say lewd remarks bordering sexual harassment. Craigslist Operators would not relinquish IP addresses to report these emails to the cops.

Sold a ring I no longer wore. Paid $250+ for it asking $50. A woman that had purchase another piece of jewelry off of me said she’d take it! I reiterated the fact that it was $50 to her in the e-mail. Blows me off once, then decieds to call me last minute to meet up and pick upt the item. She hands me $40 for it. I say its $50. She says we had a deal have a great night and drives off with said item.

I do photography. There aren’t many advertising sites in my area anyone pays attention to anymore thanks to craigslist. I post a set price for what my company offers. We had the lowest price for the best deal.( Some were asking $10,000 for what we offer for many many many thousands less). Some girl 40 minutes away from my home location was posting crappy ads. Plain text with a link to a flicker account. Our ad goes up…the next day our font which isnt a standard program font same layout we have for it, same prices, same offer. Today…AGAIN 5 other’s copying our ad.

Anyone else have any problems with craigslist. I’ve heard of cities trying to have it removed from their area…I’m very close to doing that in mine.

    3. What should I do? I sold my older tv for 35 dollars to a local person and the tv was in good working condition. It has been for so long. I sold it yesterday and today I get an email and text from the sketchy man saying he wants his money back or he is going to take legal action. Now I do not have the money anymore because i needed that last of the money to purchase my new TV which I did after giving him the TV. Should I be worried and what should I say back to him. Im only 17 and Im waiting for my mom to come home but I wanted more advice on the matter.

He is saying the tv’s attatched DVD player doesnt work, which is a lie. I checked it before I gave it to him. He says it makes a high pitched pierceing noise, which is never does EVER. And he also says that the cable in the back is broken which another LIE because Ive watched tv and the cable has been fine for years. What should I do???

    6. I thought selling (or buying) links was a guaranteed way to get banned by Google? If so, how can a reputable site like networksolutions get away with it? See the link below.

      http://www.networksolutions.co.....on/slv.jsp

      Here’s another one, http://www.textlinkbrokers.com

Their stated mission is pretty clear, sell text links from high PR sites. And guess what? This site is #1 for google search term “buy text links”
      http://www.google.com/search?h.....text+links

This seem to clearly violate Google’s TOS, yet these guys are not only NOT banned by Google, but they are ranking pretty high on Google search results. I have seen plenty of ads for text links, but I have withheld my temptation of buying them because I believe in doing the right this (Ok, so I am not an Angel, I didn’t buy them because I don’t want to get my butt whooped by Google), then I see something like this.

Is this allowed by Google, or am I missing something here?

    7. I have a personal website that I use as a promotional tool for myself, but also have been using it to blog about various things.

One particular week, I recapped my cross-country road trip I took when moving from Boston to Los Angeles. Recently, an advertiser contacted me about placing an ad for his hotel chain on one of these posts. He’s asking me for a quote on a text link, a banner or a widget. He just wants to place the ad on this one blog post, and not the entire site.

I had no intention of ever selling ads on my site, but I am not opposed to it. I’ve tried to do some research on advertising rates and where to start, but I’m still a bit confused.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    10. REDIRECT is where someone clicks on a URL you give them, (in this case Google text ad) and it goes to that page (Which is not the Merchant page yet) And redirects the user to the merchant page in other words the affiliate link

      EX: http://www.mysite.com goes to HOPLINK

    12. HI, I have a website getting about one million hits a month. As well the alexa ranking is 70,000 do you know any good webmaster websites I can use to sell some ad space?

    13. Can Google Adwords really help my website to increase more traffic and sell more products or services ?

Is it a good way for advertising small business ? or should i try to advertise my website buy Text Ad Links ?

    14. A friend and I are working on a text based browser game. We actually met through one we used to play, and after knowing each other for so long, we want to make together, and hopefully make a little profit. I am responsible for the coding and am very limited, but learning. She will be doing the art work, and also coming up with ideas.

The problem is this. In all the online similar browser based games we researched, we realized the game was under the authority of a company.

Basically, whoever started these websites, also started a business, and named it just about anything they wanted. So the basic format is Company -> Game site under the company.

QUESTION: I need to start a business of my own, or rather, WE do, and don’t know how. We need to just own a company name. One that we can call ours. Just a company, we don’t need a solid location, just the right to say that we own a company by the title we give it. An “internet company”.

Other reason this is necessary is for the ads that will help pay for the server costs. I researched google ads, and they will only send money to a “company” from what I read, in exchange for getting “clicks” on their ads you put on your site.

We also need a “company” for any financial transactions. We will be selling “digital services” that I know from experience has potential to be very profitable. So I’ll need to know how to link any paypal funds they use to purchase our goods, to be sent to our companies paypal. So many reasons as you can see… Thanks in advance.

    15. so i found a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant GTS on craigslist that has 103k on it (yea i know the miles are a bit high) but the guy is trying to sell it for $7500. I KNOW it aint worth that much because of the miles and the year and all that. Insurance on it is going to be cheap too but that has really nothing to do with my point. Point is, is this car really worth this much? here are the details he put:

      http://www.kbb.com/mitsubishi/.....ons=121131|false&pricetype=private-party&condition=good
——- Link to Kelley Blue Book pricing. (Open link and click the “Private Party” option.)

      Excellent = $8,815 Good = $8,240 Fair = $7,290

Nice car. Runs perfect. 103,000 miles. Practically new tires. Meets all, if not more, of the requirements of KBB’s “good condition” title. Paint defect on rear right side of the car. This paint defect is apparently common among a lot of Mitsubishi paint jobs.

a few weeks ago, he had it as $8000 and i asked him if he was willing to negotiate the price and he said what do i have in mind. Well i had at least $5000 – $5500 cash but i knew he would say no and blah blah. I asked him what was the lowest he would go and he said $7500. Ok so NOW that i go back and find his ad, he puts the price down as $7500. I was thinking maybe i could have my friend text him asking what would be the lowest he’d go. He might not go any lower but i think its BS because of the year and miles and theres a bit of paint that came off on the front by the head lights. My mom is looking for a car for me and im trying to help but its hard but im trying to get this guy to bring down the price. I haven’t gone out to look at it but i dont want to go out and look at it and waste BOTH of our times if he aint going to bring down the price.

Is this car really worth that much??? I know i have to go look at it and THEN really ask myself if its worth that much. I’ll come back on here and give details and maybe you can answer me then after i take a look at the car! Please add me on here or how ever this works so that way when i come back and update my question, you can give me an answer! 😀
